About Khadija Ali

Khadija Ali is a community-focused entrepreneur, a cultural and language expert, and the visionary CEO behind Global Language Connections. With over 13 years of experience in the language services industry, she has transformed her personal journey into a powerful force for change across Minnesota.

Born in Mogadishu, Somalia, Khadija immigrated to the U.S. in 1996 without knowing a word of English. She learned the language in school in San Diego and quickly became the voice for her family — interpreting during everyday interactions and, most crucially, in medical settings. A personal family experience where language was a barrier to proper healthcare inspired Khadija to dedicate her life to bridging those gaps for others.

What began with a cell phone and a single contract grew into one of Minnesota’s largest interpretation and translation service businesses, with over 900 interpreters across 100+ languages. In under a year, her newest venture — Global Language Connections — has already grown to a network of over 100 interpreters, reflecting her continued commitment to growth, excellence, and impact.

Khadija's work is guided by her passion for connecting emerging communities with established systems, creating win-win solutions that benefit businesses and individuals alike. Her leadership has not only opened doors for others but has also created hundreds of sustainable jobs within minority communities.

Recognized as one of Minnesota’s most respected leaders in cultural and language services, Khadija has received numerous honors, including:
